Before writing RENT, Larson had another story to tell, his own.
tick, tick... BOOM! is a pop/rock musical that tells of a young
composer, approaching a crossroads in life, his 30th birthday! His
girlfriend wants to get married, leave the city and move to Cape Cod *tick*;
his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue and wants Jon to join
corporate America *tick*; and yet Jon is still waiting tables while trying
to write the great American musical before time and life pass him by
*BOOM!*. This musical is an endearing and thoughtful piece, embracing
the universal ideal of holding onto your dreams through life's most
difficult challenges.
